Friday long run was longer than expected. With the walking that was needed for safety when ice wouldn't let me run, and the 31257 steps on my watch when I got back, Im confident I was well over 16 miles.

The run was filled with ice covered roads, snow in my face and dodging snowplows. I logged my worse stride by far and worst pace in a very long time.

I always chose not to post my pace because its my pace, my race. I think too often we compare ourselves to numbers and what a race guide says I need to be at. In the end, many times, we feel defeated when we return stating ugh I didnt hit my numbers, or I hit them but need to do better.

Run the race before you and remember why you run. You didnt have a dream to run Boston yet not already run? No it was your passion to run.

Many people I have met lately, say no I cant run outside in this weather, I will underperform. I wont be the best I can be.I also hear, I hate the treadmill, but no choice.

You always have a choice

Being the best you can be is getting up each day and finishing your race. Ir doesnt have. a 7:30 pace, its got a mind of its own. important part is embarking on it with Perseverance, finishing that race even through the icy, hilly valleys.

My run sucked as far as statistics but persevering, I shattered.

Completed my 20th and Final marathon at Boston but I keep running the race before me. 3+ years of Sobriety

Thats alot of time to move, think, reflect, cry, yell, stop, give up, doubt, pray, talk to God, ultimately Persevere.

Been awesome to see my kids grow in running and in their own athletic talents. Christian running races on his own, just speechless

A lady asked me this am, whats your goal for next year 6000? Truth is there is no goal. The goal every day is to wake up and take that first step with goal of keeping moving to reach that next spot. I always have a target plan however I find joy in every step, thankful to God for the long journey.

Knowing its only because of Him I have strength to keep moving each day, strength to go to jobs that arent pleasant, work and be around people who would rather not be around me, do my best to shine His words/presence

My head stopped at mile 9, foot at mile 11.5,thirst came on strong at mile 17 despite having had plenty of water, rain/wind/hills for last 5 miles. Coming down mile 19 couldnt help but shout thank you Jesus. Now Im resting for a second from throbbing foot pain. Hebrews 12:1

Curious to know others thoughts. I dont typically buy keto. Not standing for or against it in the post, I personally believe in a balance of foods and foods and beverages that make your body feel at his or her best.

As a Dietitian, I will do random label reading at store to gain more knowledge on products out there. This bread intrigued me. 35 calories and 10g fiber per serving? Well thats pretty awesome. Look at ingredients, first 1 is water. 🤔. I bought a loaf, made some toast and the first time I ate it, I enjoyed it. It tasted dougher to me than other breads which I enjoyed. However the text time all i could taste was the water. I felt like I was eating soggy bread even though it was toasted, and couldnt finish it

Going forward I personally will stick with my normal bread but curious others doing the keto thing, what do u think? I do frequently purchase low carb tortillas that have 11-14 g fiber and 60 calories and love them

Recently attended Todays Dietitian Symposium. There were a lot of Dietitians mentioning to reach everyone we need to be looking at what store are the most available in areas we are trying to reach. The Dollar Tree was mentioned many times. I personally have found the Dollar Tree to be a great resource for health and beauty items and food including frozen.

I decided to take on the challenge of creating healthy recipes with items strictly from the dollar tree. Locations do vary on what they offer however they really do provide a variety of meats, frozen vegetables, meal options for a healthy well rounded meal. Here is my first attempt at Dollar Tree Healthier Tex Mex Meatloaf. For a healthier substitute, Canned Chicken can be subbed for the meatballs.

Peppers and salsa provide Fiber and Vitamin C, Fiber and Protein from the vegetable mix, protein from the meatballs. whole grains and fiber from oatmeal. Hope you enjoy.

Recipe:
1 package meatballs or 1 can of chicken
1 jar mild or medium salsa
1/2 bag santa fe bag frozen vegetables
1 jar rinsed of red peppers
1 egg
Italian seasoning, Parmesan cheese to taste
1/2 cup oatmeal

Bake at 425 until done (30-40 mins). Meat is already cooked.

Night before the big day. So much excitement, doubt, fear, thinking. #20 marathon, leaving it all out there. What a journey this has been. I know I have run through pain, had good races. Ran the race in October with outer pain in my foot 20 miles although I made it, it was so tough. That pain has not come back til this week and its messing with my head. So much more enjoyable without pain but we cant always plan our circumstances no matter how much we try

What God has done through me through is sport, if you don't believe in Jesus and furthermore miracles, I encourage you to look a little deeper at putting your trust in Him. There is no way a transformation such as mine could happen any other way. Not just the running, but living through the events I put myself before I "wokeup". Jesus is the only way. I wish I never went through the things I did, but we cant change that. We can chose to forgive, and persevere.

Praying for Gods hand on the weather, safety, to heal the pains in our bodies, and persevere to that finish line. APPRECIATE your prayers and thoughts

Marathon 19 complete. Actually a nice course without the 2.5 hour of steady heavy snow. Made for some wet conditions, and definitely slowed me down. Ive never ran in such snow and was completely soaked.

5 years ago today, was one of the darkest days of my life. I was such a different person. I was making the wrong choices, and essentially hit rock bottom on this day. I was so afraid and gave up. Never dreamt of running and how God would use it to clean me up, make me fearless and teach me to press on.

Here I am running through some of the toughest conditions ever, on purpose and making it. God is so good. Embrace the path before you. Let Him guide you and dont give up on the passions you have. God gave you those passions for a purpose.

Next stop Marathon 20 and final in Boston T-16 days. I could fail or succeed but I wont know unless I try. You got this

Sometimes we can forget how easy it is to get a source of a vitamin. This little container is a half cup of Grape nuts. Yes I said grapenuts. I encourage you to give them a shot! They r pretty bland in flavor but give a good crunch.
In just this little size, one gets 90% of iron for day. Combine that with a Clemente for vit c for absorption. Add it to a greek yogurt, Here is a healthy around 300 calorie snack with 20gpro.

Marathon 18 complete.
I decided Boston would be my last Marathon (runners last words). Thought it be kind of cool to finish at 20. That left 2 within 2 months time. Thats. alittle crazy considering Boston is so big and I truly hate the marathon. Than my determination kicked in, go big or go home. There was no marathon coming up that wasnt going to cost me over $1000 in traveling. 18 was going to have to be on home turf.
With the weekend weather looking horrible, 3-5 inches snow and freezing rain. and today beautiful why not run a marathon before work. If you would have ever told me I would self plan a marathon of this difficulty Id call u crazy. Also that I made this decision a day ago. My taper was 8 miles the day before instead of 10 lol.
But despite traffic, ice detours and glute pain that almost had me stopping at mile 10, God carried me through with perseverance. Im so thankful. Showered and to work by 930am. I feel like we over think things sometimes when are bodies r like you got this. The worse we can do is fail but you cant fail if you dont try.

So thankful for the year, going places never dreamed of like Alaska, Maine, Arizona. Being able to fulfill dreams of kids to go to Legoland, and to take airplane to Arizona to see a friend. Ran my first 50k. Mostly finally being able to run complete the Boston Marathon. I have ran through my first year of injuries, had doctors tell me I would never run again, have doctors misdiagnose me with conditions, ran through countless miles of pain. However through all that, God has shown me how strong He is and if I trust in Him, I can persevere through, at the same time knowing when to give in. His hand of protection has been on me.

So very proud, 2 years of complete Sobriety today!!
A day Ive looked forward to celebrating. I have a special plan this weekend to celebrate but Kicked the day off with a 13 mile run, through pain and ice. How symbolic, but slow and steady with some walking pushed through.
Looking at these pictures and smelling the bottle of Vanilla Vodka for first time in over 2 years sure brought me back. Happy to say its been close to 5 years since my last chocolate martini. This journey is not easy but each day we make a choice to let go and let God. What God has pushed me through through running a lone is a pure miracle. Giving up is just not an option. Failure happens, but chasing the dream until its complete is perseverance. I have literally ran through pain, limp, snow, ice, cold, regret, joy,fallen, but making a finish line and crossing in His timing is the purpose
John asked me a week ago, do u miss drinking? I said honestly No. I got to a point 4 years ago when I began to get healthy and my stomach became so sensitive. Running really became my thing. I would go have a beer and I just felt crappy. I came to a point where I didnt want to feel crappy on purpose. I want to make each moment worth it. Each moment, every second counts. You dont have to be a sloppy drunk to have a problem. If there is something you r doing that just doesnt feel right ask God to help you discern and let go and let God

God is good! What an experience. October 11th, I got to fulfill a 25 year dream.

4.5 years ago, basically not living life, quitting on everything. From the first step I took running , God was telling me this was not a time to quit. Each day I got up, and kept running, sometimes walking, limping but each day perseverance got a little stronger. From marathon 1 to marathon 4, I shaved an hour off my time. Qualified for Boston 3 times, but with the stiff competition and Covid, God was telling me again, be patient. In those 4 years I have kept off 70#, quit drinking, faced everyone of my fears in the face, become a better parent/wife/person all because of the strength God showed me through running.

On that morning, All my normal issues were fine but my toes locked up at mile 6. Just kept stretching toes, kept running. Wasnt going away. Took shoe off nad kept going. Ugh so painful but God kept me running.
The whole experience was so surreal. The people, and support. Never forget. Its amazing The smiles on face even despite the pain when youre living your dream.
Thank you all for the support. Cant express enough how thankful I am for all the nice words and thoughts. If you have a dream keep persevering!

Last year on this day I was so proud to run 3000 miles injury free. This year Im roughly at 3500 miles, #Runstreak Day 792. Also, still running in shorts and baseball cap.
This year not injury free, but full of determination. The injuries never stopped me, but slowed me down for a time, to appreciate the healthy times. I run in pain everyday but the pain if I didnt run would be worse. Something like fresh cold, dark air in the am, by yourself on the lonely trail, that motivated u to keep going.
Lots of perseverance, lonely miles, thinking, wanting to quit but keep going. Keep going!!

What a day that was. 4 years ago today I ran my first marathon in 20 years. I still remember all the emotion, doubts, cold symptoms I felt going into. The comments from people telling me not to run, because I felt sick. I now know that it was all just nerves and feelings that would pass if I just kept running.One of fav memories, is my cousin Jordyn at mile 19. I had nothing left, she smiled at me with that Jordyn smile, and said you got this keep going you r doing great. Im not sure I ever told her that that memory goes through my head every time Im at mile 19. She carries me through a lot of runs

Looking back 4 years, If you told me how much that 1 race would change my life, I would have never believed you. And if you would have told me that in the morning, Lord willing, Id be lining up for the Boston Marathon because I qualified with a time exactly 1 hour better than this, I surely would have called you crazy.

13 marathons later, what God has done in 4 years to me through running can b nothing less than a "God Thing".

I stand today 22 months sober!! Working as a Dietitian, maybe not the best one, but trying. Surrounded by a family, especially an amazing Husband John III Mindiola , who has seen and stuck with me when most people wouldnt.

The fears, pains, endless health issues, defeat, failure after failure eventually becoming a success, almost never giving up no matter what the pace, putting that one foot in front of other, until I see the Lord.

I may also add, my attire has quite changed, lol. that outfit looks so warm

This next week is going to be hard waiting to start this race, anxiously waiting each day to make sure its still going, Ill hold on to my Title Verse:

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

One day at a time, 1 step at a time, continually showing up each day even when I didnt want to. Never imagined I could lose the weight or have muscle mass again but proved that wrong

Happy National Running day. Thought I would do something different today and run lol. Today marks Run streak day 580 #rwrunstreak . Running has become my norm to start my day and function. Its not easy most days but Running has kept me alcohol free for 18 months, keeps my body moving internally and out, helps me beat the battles in my head, and gives me hope and determination to go another day. Thankful and blessed by God each day he gets me through those miles I dont think is possible when i start.

Autism run 2021 complete at 18.18 miles. Wish I could say Autism was complete but its not. Its a horrible disorder that I watch destroy my son daily. Its hard for us at times to deal with it but I cant imagine how Christian feels. He is constantly anxious, jumpy, routine driven, confused but at the same time handles it like a champ, loving, caring, funny and doing his best to manage Autism and puberty at the same time. We are blessed with amazing friends and family, and Julianna is the best sister ever.

The cost of caring for people with autism is predicted to reach $461 billion by 2025 in the U.S. Each year the stats get worse with more diagnoses etc. Especially with the pandemic, the treatments provided in the past year have been limited and some are really hurting.

If you know someone with Autism, they always need a friend. Get to know these people, they will teach you so much

Last run as a 42 year old. I know we can all say, what a year!! From a running perspective, God has pushed me harder and further this year on that course. So many miles of perseverance, doubt, fear, thinking upon thinking, singing, praising, and reaching the goal each day in His timing. God has sped me up, cramped me up and slowed me down but no matter what He leads us to finish the race before us. Many hurdles along the way.

Thankful for a year of running every day, alcohol free, finally becoming a registered Dietitian, and endless thanks to all my residents at work who show up everyday to get stronger and teach me how strong we r. Keep striding forward!!

To complete artic blast 2021, I thought a 21 mile run was needed to complete it. What a run! Despite the hills, I had my best time in a long time. I picked a not so easy route, but covered 5 cities, I know where all the good and bad gas prices r, and am thankful to kwik trip for hot water to thaw my water bottles.
Ended my run at Panera with a ride home.

Coldest temp -22 and real feel -37. Now its just winter. Special thanks to God, my ski googles, columbia omni wind coat, and a tremendous amount of determination.
Hoping I dont need those googles for awhile.

-18 temp. That was a rough one. Had no choice with 3.6 miles to go, take my shoe off to reposition. sitting on a cold trail. it was painful. I still in shock I tied my shoe and got my glove backon.

Havent had GI issues on runs in awhile but today made up for that. It was a tough run. Had to cut it short. With the warmer weather coming, I anticipate a longer one soon

2020 complete. Total running miles 3876!!!! I set out to run 3000 and well i kept going. 1400 more than last year. YIKES!!! Run streak Day 400, #rwrunstreak. No injuries outside of sore hamstrings. I saw dreams happen, Gave blood for first time, bought our first house,1 year sober, became a registered dietitian, finished 1 year as a personal trainer. Saw dreams almost happen, running Boston marathon, giving kids a great vacation and watching my kids be able to finish what they started.

Those miles have brought many tears, screams, sore muscles, doubt, triumph, defeat, joy and showing me what one can accomplish by putting one foot in front of the other and keep moving. It brought me 3 marathons, 4000 hours of running,my fastest half, running friends and many hours of thinking, praying and persevering.
Ive had many yells over the year but in the end, we just need to keep running and enjoy the path before us. Every moment is a gift. I have been blessed to work with seniors and they remind me of that daily. They just keep going. Lets keep going and trust in Gods strength and hope

Running at 5am on Christmas morning, you get the roads to yourself. Which was a blessing today. Icy roads, ice on my goggles. Topped off by my first fall on ice in my 4 years of running. What do u do? You scream for a few seconds and you keep running.

November Miles 365! Almost to run streak 365. December marks a day Ive been waiting for.
1 Year complete Sobriety!!!
Today is a big day! Today marks 1 year since I drank my last drop of alcohol. When I had that last drink, I didnt intend for it to be the last. 4 years ago, I was trying to live 2 lives. Alcohol was a big part of that. Ironically the scripture I read tonight was one cannot serve 2 masters.
As I started to get healthier, and get my thinking a little more focused, my desire for alcohol decreased along with my tolerance. Finally got to a point where I didnt want to fill my body with the possibility of regrets if I could help it. Alcohol, and many other things brought me joy for a time, but left many regrets.
November marks 6th month straight of 300+ miles. The road is long and hard to get to and through somedays, but in the end, perseverance gets us there.
We cant get the time back for our past, but we can press on make the most of the seconds and moments ahead.

month in a row at 300 miles and still 5 days to go. Thank you @beastpacing for a cool challenge each month, with a buff, handcrafted medal and bragging rights. The more I try to cut the miles my body says keep going you got this.

Today I was reminded all the times I quit that first year of running. My husband picked me up so many times due to doubt, stomach and bathroom issues. With so many untreatable GI issues, runs can be well unpredictable. It takes planning to make sure I have a place to stop if I need to. Sometimes, you need to be creative. There isnt one day I go running that I dont doubt myself. Thinking today is the day a leg goes out or you name it. I better not overdue, I have to teach exercise all day.

All we have is right now. No minute is guaranteed so put your best effort forward, and make the most of each opportunity whether slow, rocky amd smooth. Hardest thing we do is show up.

October miles officially 379! Including first week of 90 miles, running 3000 miles for the year, and 2 in person races. Run streak #325. A lot of grunt to get me out the door. Alot of those days, cold, windy, exhausted and sick of running. But mind over matter and God over fear, we persevere.

First 2 miles still always the toughest. I challenge you to 20 minutes of exercise before stopping. 20 minutes is the time our minds need to process change. I've heard. Alot of people say, I can't run a mile, I'm too tired. Training our bodies one step at a time, 1 mile at a time, we can reach that goal if we believe.

Goal completed. Set a goal to run 3000 miles in 2020 and with 69 days to spare, I made it. Average mileage of 10.1 miles a day and total of 3 marathon distances .Injury free! Run streak day 319 #rwrunstreak.

In 3.5 years I went from and unhealthy lifestyle of bad choices and fears to a life of fearlessness. Life throws us curve balls and it is easier to quit. We fail many times but it's the showing up and getting back up again that makes us stand above.
I have maintained a 70# weightloss in these 3 years, gained a tremendous amount of muscle, and have natural energy like no other. In addition, accomplished many goals never thought I would.

Everyday we chose to get up and face the day before us. These runs included many mornings waking up at 3-4 am to get my run done before work. Many days, no I don't want to, but my mind and determination got me out the door. Rain, snow, sleet, heat, humidity, tiredness, frustration, still forced myself out that door.

This am was no different. Tired legs, need new shoes. My original path got stopped early due to bridge being out. So you turn around and find a new path to finish the journey. Slow paces followed by some faster paces. Isn't that just life? Were not always happy with the performance but we get there in His timing and persevere to that finish. Keep going

#bostonmarathon Monday. Today was the rescheduled day. I likely would have been finishing right now due to staggered starts. So bittersweet and unimaginable it would turn out this way. I hated the idea of virtual Boston and think it doesn't come close. Thank u all for thoughts and prayers. A big thank you to my husband for biking next or near me supplying me with nutrition and kind words. I can't post the pictures due to privacy but a big thank you to my residents and co workers who came out, created a finish line and ribbon wrap for me to cross over. My staff gave me these flowers and created this banner. Pictures will be posted on presbyterian homes facebook page.

Exactly 1 year today I qualified for the marathon. I was so looking forward to running the streets of Boston, with family and friends cheering me on. I was not expecting avirtual boston with a print out poster of the start and finish. It's not the same but feels weird wearing a jacket I know I earned but in a different way. I'm so thankful for the journey God has given me through running. 3.5 years ago I couldn't run a block. I was so defeated. Each day God told me to put those shoes on get back out there. He wasn't done with me yet. Every mile in the countless pairs of running shoes has helped me work through my past, regrets, triumphs and heartaches. They are not always happy miles. Those miles are filled with yelling, tears, shouts of joy , pain, doubt but A ton of perseverance.

God is so good. He brought me out of dependence on alcohol, and drives me now towards my next finish line. The hardest choice we make everyday is getting out of bed. Getting up, lacing those shoes, and embracing the journey before us each day; give it a try, see where God brings u. #finishstrong

Tomorrow am I run the virtual boston marathon with the love and support of my husband biking next to me. I am undeserving of the love of this man. I find it extremely ironic and of course a God thing, that its exactly 1 year from the marathon I ran last year to qualify for Boston. praying I can do close to as well.

This is not how any of us saw the Boston Marathon looking. As a runner this is the ultimate dream. Knowing also how I qualified the year before but was 7 seconds to sucky to get in. And this year to qualify by 12 minutes I didnt see running on the cold trails of Mound on how it would play out.

God has taught me so much through these years of running on determination, patience, perseverance, defeat, triumph. The ultimate thing He has taught me is no matter how hard we doubt, struggle or give up, He gets us to that finish line in His timing. Not our timing but His! Im not excited to run it in 40 degree weather, wind and an incredibly sore body but Always excited to see how God is going to meet me on this journey. God is ready to meet you too. The toughest part is showing up and saying God show yourself.

I ask for your prayers for rest, healing, and for Gods hands on us. We r running very early, (5:15am start). This run will be to honor my brother as well. Tim loved Mound and he was a big supporter of my running. August Miles, getting it done. 330 Miles. 3 months with over 300. The road is hard, legs are sore, but the journey is long. This month has been heavy. Ran my first real race since February, I became an Official Registered Dietitian after 20 years of being done with school, bought our first home, and mourn the loss of a brother.

I know I join thousands that were looking forward to the real thing. Running this virtually I think is dumb. As much as Boston wants us to believe that running this virtually is the same, it's not. I will get the medal, I get to wear the jacket but It's so empty. Working so hard for dreams, reaching them and not living them is something I've come to know well. It sucks! God has a plan and I trust Him but sometimes I just want to scream waiting in patience. Keep running the race before you.

I won't be back. So many hills!!!! And 98% with strong head winds. No thank you but felt so good to race again.

It is finished. Marathon #13 or 14, I'm not really sure. That was unlike anything else. By far the worse hills I've ever run in a marathon followed by 15mph winds and let's not forget the 98% humidity. 700 ft elevation gain. With a hour delay due to lightening. But God helped me persevere. It was no PR but I was really just running to see if I can still do it and I did. If those hills were a little less I would have easily done 5-8minutes better but still thankful for the day. Now that hours have passed, my guilt is sinking in because I know I am better than what I did today. I let myself lighten up when I shouldn't have thinking I won't regret it but then I remember who I am and of course I will. It wasn't an off day, I felt pretty much myself most of it, but it was a tough course and need to be proud of it.
